Hand dyed, hand painted, color blocked, silk three quarter length dress. This piece has a hand-painted batik, crepe de chine silk, for the top front panel. It is pieced with black crepe de chine for the middle front, and a double layer of gray and black sheer silk, for the lower third of the front bottom. This sheer bottom panel creates a “peek-a-boo” below the knee, and lightens the look of the dress. The back of the dress is a panel of sheer black silk chiffon on top, and a black crepe de chine for the bottom portion. This dress is one of only three garments created from a single piece of hand-painted wax batik silk. It is very light weight, and drapes beautifully on. It is an awesome day to evening dress. It makes a great traveling companion, because it is light weight and quick drying, and also because of its versatility. Front facing, it has a scoop neckline, but it can also be turned around, with the front facing backward, for a higher crew neckline. It can be layered with tights and long sleeves for cooler weather. This piece is finished with French seams and hand-painted, hand-dyed bias, inside and out. It is one size, and fits up to an extra large.

Because of the nature of the process there are variations in dye color and only contribute to the beauty and uniqueness of each hand made garment.

To care for this dress, hand wash in cold water, hang dry. Can also be washed on the gentle cycle, in a lingerie bag. Can be ironed if necessary. Sewn with meticulous care in Chicago.
